Hi ! i bought a 90 gtir two weeks ago. it is in good mechanical shape but there is work to do... since a got it for very cheap i dont mind doing some repairs to the car... i started to read a lot about these cars and ordered a couple parts from bob heywood at gti-r-us.co.uk so now i have an ignition switch, wiper arm and the plastics around... installed a front axle boots, changed transfer box oil, engine oil etc. while working on the car i discovered two things that surprised me : the ecu has been chipped by JAM sport and i cant find any information about this company, and i also found an hks turbo timer hidden in the dash, and its functional ! i'm still doing a big tune up on it so no modifications are planned right now. still need to do complete ignition tune up, valve cover seal, change tranny and rear diff oil, and get rid of the NUMEROUS rattles and noises around the car ! if you have any advices there welcomes !

Je pense que je sais c'est laquelle tu as acheté, l'annonce était sur driftquebec me semble ? un de mes amis me l'a montré vu que j'ai pas de facebook.
Dans le cas de l'ecu, il faudrait que tu aille voir un tuner spécialisé comme Robin Almasi pour qu'il regarde le tune qui a été fait.
J'ai le nissan fast chez moi et si jamais tu cherche une piece des fois ça reviens moins cher d'en acheter des neuves que d'en commander des usagées ailleurs dans le monde
Le tune-up je commande chez nissan des pieces pour un gtir donc je sais pas si d'autre chose peut fitter a part que tu peux utiliser cap + rotor de NX2000.
Peut-etre que le fillage du nx2000 fait aussi mais j'ai jamais essayé.
Bougies NGK BKR7E, doivent etre gapées et disponible dans certains magasins de pieces, oublie canadian tire ils ont rien de ça j'ai fouillé

merci pour l'info ! on m'a recomandé d'Aller chez manoir nissan, et qu'ils pouvaient avoir les morceaux pour le pulsar. par contre a ce que je sache mon véhicule n'a pas été a vendre sur internet ! peut être que c'était une annonce de l'acien propriétaire. ce qui a beaucoup plus de sens pour moi car je connais la personne qui m'a vendu le char. merci encore, au plaisir !
je dis ça parce que j'ai vu un pulsar noir avec des mags orange a vendre identique au tiens sur driftquebec et on s'entends qu'en partant un pulsar ça cours pas les rues lol.
Les conversions de pieces sur des chars canadiens c'était pour pas que tu te casse le cul a attendre que ça vienne du japon, des fois ça prends 2 semaines et + vu qu'elles sont back-order et que ça m'a deja sauvé de trouver de quoi qui fittait sur un autre histoire de pas l'avoir stallé dans mon parking a attendre :)
Update ! i installed a new ignition switch, a new wipers/flasher module, and the plastics around them ! now i just need double sided tape to fix my HKS turbo timer ! I also fixed an exhaust leak behind the silencer, wich is an apexi japan and now it sound really nice ! the car is far from perfect but is now a good daily driver, especially with the snow comming !! next step will be a complete ignition tune up, valve cover gasket and maybe valve adjustment, but i need i little more info on the vlaves. i noticed that they are a little noisy when the engine is cold...
Well they run on solid lifters and that makes it normal that the valves are a little noisy, if they are really noisy when hot that's when you should take a look at the clearances.
I could send you the Gti-r factory service manual via e-mail so you will have all the data on the car as you want, i hate the online version because i can't print pages from it.
PM sent ! i really want this manual ! about the valves, i can still hear them when the engine is hot but a lot less. i hate to get out of the house in the mornig and hear the vlaves from my door !! i can also say that all the valves do not make noise, and that it's probably juste one or a couple of them...
there's a thing i want to know about rocker arm stoppers. does it make noise ? is there a difference in engine noise between an engine that has it installed and another one that does not have it ?
rocker arm stoppers are really needed when you have a engine with solid lifters that go over our 7600rpm rev cut. i don't know if it make noise as i don't have them but i can say that hearing valves from your door is something you could check when changing your valve cover. I don't hear them on my car because i have a 3 inch exhaust that make more noise than the engine on idle !
Nice you have the lockwood gauges. I have them too, they look awesome. You're going to have so much fun in the winter in this car.
i didn't even know that theses gauges were special !! but it's not working for now. speedo, rpm and many lights like the check engine light dont work. behind the cluster theres a circuit that brings 12v to all of this that is broken and i dont have 12v in the connector either... Its on the "to do" list ahah !
When you say the circuit, you mean the plastic paper on the backside ? I have a spare complete cluster here except for the tachometer that is busted and read rpm when he wants...
it might be interesting ! i know that i can "repair" it the gettho way, but i may need this if it fail ahah ! the problems start to come out more this week end, no more rear lights, dash light, and my turbo timer dosent work anymore...

There's a fuse for the gauges there, and the rear lights fuse is the one that also illuminate your cluster as they are on the same circuit. I don't know about the turbo timer as I never installed one but it could be related to your problem.
les fuses sont toutes bonnes ! le char a été réparé souvent on dirait. il y a pleins de connecteurs crimpé un peut partout sur les fils...
Je dirais que ta des modifications qui ont été fait sur l'électronique comme si il aurait eu un piggyback du genre apex'i et/ou un boost contrôler électronique et qui ont été enlevé par la suite. Le seul bon moyen de te débarrasser de tes problèmes électriques est de souder/shinker tous les fils qui ont été touchés. Des connecteurs ça vaut rien et ça empêchera pas le fil de se promener et de toucher a une partie métallique autour, c'est seulement moins de troubles que tout ressouder.
c'Est sur qu'il y a des choses qui étaient installées mais qui ne sont plus la, ya ben du fillage qui vans dans la valise mais plguger sur rien, un fil crimpé sur le fil en arrière d'une des lumière a frein... Ce qui me fuck : les couleurs de fils sur le shema électrique et celles dans mon char sont différentes. je suis supposé avoir un fil jaune qui part de la fuse "gauges"(10a) qui devrait s'en aller a la borne ign en arrière du cluster sur le connecteur du milieu. dans la vraie vie le fil en arrière du cluster est jaune barré vert... moi pis les troubles électriques... je nai jamais aimé ça réparer ça...
Tu es sur que tu regarde un N14 3HB qui est RHD dans les schémas électrique ? Le manuel de service que je t'ai donné contiens le nx1600/2000 et les sentra en plus fack cest facile de se tromper. Sinon je peux essayer de venir voir un moment donné pour t'aider a trouver une solution vu que je commence a être bon dans les problèmes électriques.
ouais jai pris le shéma pour turbo awd RHD... finalement pour l'instant jai des plus gros problèmes jai pogner un 72h pour mon windsheild et mon exhaust...
