I haven't seen this discussed yet. Has anyone had to replace a windshield on a GTi-R? If so, what did you use and who did you get it through? I'm going to need one pretty soon and am looking for a place to source one.

It was done through ICBC cause I had a small chip in my windshield so they replaced the whole thing so I only paid the $300 deductable. They did write down all the prices for everything but I cant find my receipt
Here is an idea, is their enough of us that is willing to have a North America manufacturing co. to make a small run. I would be willing to put my .02 in. nissan does it for a little over 700 with insurance. so its really up to u if you are willing to risk 573$ down the tube no insurance, or pay the hefty 700$ price tag from nissan. also you have to worry if the glass is as1 or as2 marked.
Just ordered mine from Japan. 10600jpy + 25000-30000jpy for shipping. No possible damage insurance. Lets just hope Fedex handles the box gently....
I work at Fedex, and i can tell you that i wouldnt ship with them unless you package it super super well. Although i work at Fedex ground, and that would probably shipped with air, or freight.
celm: its 2 days from japan to here, and its a few days locally in japan.
nick: Nissan here doesnt want to order one for me as he says that if there's a crack and I dont take it he's stuck with it. So I prefer ordering it from Japan at my own expense vs ordering it from another Nissan that's a few hour drive from here and who will ship it to me anyways. The glass is AS1.
peg: it will be carefully packaged, and it ships by fedex intl economy. 2 days from Saitama to my door in Quebec. it will be in a windshield box, inside a bigger box with packaging material and other items. I know its risky, but there's no other option for me.
what i mean is that its a special order from japan which takes up to 5 weeks, and if it comes in broken they have to scrap it, order another one and lose money in the end, and they are not interested. I have dealt with this guy a few times already and he's cool. But he's the parts manager and knows his stuff too. The local dealership I used to deal with would not even want to order parts I needed even though I supplied the part numbers. He just said "I'm not listed for this part" and there was no way to get it. So I now order all my stuff through the other Nissan which is about 3h drive from here.
some dealers here seem dismissive or even a bit antagonistic to jdm and have an absolutely "can't get there from here" attitude and like i made a big mistake on jdm; found some help @ one place with a direction to a jdm importer; at another met a partsman jdm enthusiast, but his computer wouldn't help.

P10 G20 windshield will not work as I measured the glass yesterday on my 1992 g20 and its way too wide on the bottom. The B13 sentra are a lot closer in dimension, last I measured it was only 1" wider at the top measuring from the top 2" down and across, I will try it out and have a glass company cut it down for the pulsar- its only $80 for the glass so if it breaks its not going to kill me!
i have, through nissan directly. takes 2-3 weeks to arrive from japan. look to spend about 800$

Mike further emails:
"If you wanted to get people to email me their JDM Vin # I can look into aftermarket Windshields as well. I have a local shop that can source them. That might be a cheaper option, he just requires the JDM Vin before he will quote parts. That way he makes sure he is quoting on the right part."

So, hopefully more info appearing later for additional options.
what markings do people have on their windshields? [other than cracks like mine?] codes and sources??
Noticed anything "funny" with the exchange rates and parts prices lately:

P10 G20 windshield will not work as I measured the glass yesterday on my 1992 g20 and its way too wide on the bottom. The B13 sentra are a lot closer in dimension, last I measured it was only 1" wider at the top measuring from the top 2" down and across, I will try it out and have a glass company cut it down for the pulsar- its only $80 for the glass so if it breaks its not going to kill me!
